The World Youth Music Festival 2024 was only possible thanks to the generous support of sponsors and patrons as well as the active assistance of many helpers.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to giving so many young people from Switzerland and abroad the opportunity to experience an unforgettable festival with like-minded young people from all over the world.

Lost and found

There are a few found objects left behind. From mouthpieces and items of clothing to a pair of glasses and much more. Anyone who has lost something is welcome to contact the office (Jürg Wehrli) at info@wjmf.ch

Ranking list

The World Youth Music Festival brought the city of Zurich to life this weekend. 65 youth music formations from 11 different countries took part in the competitions and provided colourful and loud sounds in the city. A total of around 3,000 young people took part. The opening ceremony on Friday 12 July 2024 attracted around 5,000 people to the Hallenstadion. The gala concerts, the parade and the festival site on Münsterhof were also popular attractions for the public.

Parade will take place

At the moment there are still the last drops of rain in the city of Zurich. The rain should stop in time. THE PARADE WILL TAKE PLACE. Start as planned at 10.15 a.m. The route leads from Werdmühleplatz via Bahnhofstrasse to the Münsterhof festival square. Over 30 formations will be taking part. Come along – it will be a colourful spectacle with many beautiful sounds!

Fairground Münsterhof and open air concerts

The Münsterhof is the vibrant centre of the World Youth Music Festival 2024. Numerous bands will provide a great atmosphere on the stage. All around, there will be an extensive culinary offering in the Food Village. Chilbi enthusiasts can also experience an adrenaline rush on the various rides or simply enjoy the atmosphere. Other open-air concerts take place on Hirschenplatz and on the Rathausbrücke.

Gala concert by the Swiss Army Symphonic Wind Band fully booked

The opportunity to reserve tickets for the gala concert on Sa July 13th in the Tonhalle was very popular. All seats are fully booked! There will be further opportunities to hear the various army orchestras on Friday 12 July in the Münsterhof with performances by the Swiss Army Big Band and the Swiss Army Brass Band on Sunday, including the closing ceremony at 4pm.

We need your support

Would you like to be part of an outstanding musical event for young people? Then help make the World Youth Music Festival Zurich from 11 – 14 July 2024 an unforgettable experience for young talents from all over the world!

We are looking for volunteers to support us in various areas. Whether you already have experience, make music yourself or want to share your enthusiasm for music – your help is invaluable! Possible tasks include looking after orchestras from all over the world, supporting the brilliant opening or closing ceremony, helping with the parade through Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse and much more.

You will gain valuable experience, make new contacts and be part of an international music community. You will have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the music festival and play a valuable role in the organisation and implementation. In addition to free food, you will receive a free festival pass (valid throughout the ZVV festival site) and a personalised staff T-shirt, which you can keep.

The World Youth Music Festival will take place from 11 – 14 July 2024 in Zurich.

World Youth Band Festival 2024

65 formations have registered for the upcoming World Youth Music Festival from 11 – 14 July 2024: We look forward to seeing you!

For four days, the city of Zurich will be filled with music. Windbands, brass bands, big bands, tambourine groups, show bands and many more will make the concert halls, parade music courses and the Hallenstadion shake. There will also be cool parties and a great supporting program.

Drummers, percussionists and whistlers: Join us for the WJMF2024 in Zurich!

The core of the World Youth Music Festival are the competitions. These are particularly interesting for drum ensembles, percussion formations and whistle groups from all over the world. They can compete with like-minded people from many different countries. The performances are judged by the competent jury with Roman Lombriser, Philipp Rütsche, Marc Stämpfli and for the pipers Barbara Bärly. Are you coming too?

Well-known musicians in the jury

Famous musicians from various countries have agreed to be experts at the WJMF 2024. Among others, the well-known Belgian Bert Appermont and the Dutchman Frans-Aert Burghgraef will judge the concert performances at the concert competitions. From Switzerland, there will be such illustrious names as Kristin Thielemann and Thomas Trachsel. Competent experts have also been engaged for the other categories. The names of the experts should be familiar to many music lovers. The entire list can be found in the PDF document.
