The Regensdorf Youth Wind Orchestra was founded in 2017 and offers all instrumentalists from the Regensdorf Regional Music School and wind players living in the region an ideal platform to experience playing together in a wind orchestra formation. Over the past seven years, four different orchestra levels have been gradually established. The aim is to consolidate and further develop these in the coming years. The Regensdorf Youth Wind Orchestra is led by Marc Mehmann. Jugendblasorchester und Tambouren KM Bern

Jugendblasorchester und Tambouren KM Bern

The Knabenmusik Bern (KMB) was founded in 1898 and has developed over the decades from a pure drum and fife corps to an expanded youth wind orchestra with a tambour formation. Although a large proportion of the members of this oldest youth music association in the canton of Bern are girls and young women, the traditional name Knabenmusik Bern has remained.
The members of the KMB are advanced young wind players and drummers. The musical level is therefore impressive. This is also thanks to the cooperation with the Bern Conservatory Music School, which takes care of the training of the music students.
The governing bodies of the KMB Association work on a voluntary basis. They create the conditions for a good atmosphere in the association and thus for the musical success of the KMB.

Jugendmusik Au Berneck-Heerbrugg

Jugendmusik Au Berneck-Heerbrugg

A good 10 years ago was the origin of the current youth music, which was founded in 2013 as part of a cooperation between the Au and Berneck music associations. Since January 1, 2019, the young musicians from the Heerbrugg music association have also been part of it. The aim of the youth music is to offer the next generation of musicians the best possible musical training. As a result, the name of the youth band was expanded to its current name, Au-Berneck-Heerbrugg.
As soon as the youngest musicians in the PopKorn beginner group have gained some experience on their instrument and have a certain confidence in playing it, they are accepted into the Youth Music. At various performances, the young, motivated musicians delight the audience with a wide variety of literature. The young musicians are encouraged and trained, and the active clubs in the municipalities of Au, Berneck and Heerbrugg are always happy to welcome new young supporters.
Severin Fässler has been conducting the youth music since the beginning of 2022.

The annual highlight is the music camp, which is held every fall. This camp takes place together with Popkorn and the Widnau youth music group.During the four days, new pieces of music are practiced intensively and ensemble playing is encouraged. There is also time for other activities and new friendships are made. Other social events also enrich the youth music year.So there is certainly no time for boredom!

showband.CH

showband.CH

In the beginning was a dream.
We are the Trend! – With this “American Dream”, the founders of showband.CH, Jean-Luc Kühnis and Fabian Wohlwend, set themselves a lofty goal. Following in the footsteps of the marching bands they had visited in Canada, this dream was soon to come true.

The “showband.CH” association has been pursuing the idea of traditional Canadian-American marching bands since 2006. With minor adjustments to the structure, the project developed into a permanent formation that rehearses a new show every year. Since then, showband.CH has invigorated the Swiss parade music scene with new impulses. Sophisticated formations consisting of music, rhythm and dance surprise and enchant audiences on national and international stages.

Today, showband.CH is a leader in its field and a role model for many music clubs and drum sections: She not only performs on stage herself, but also passes on her experience and knowledge in workshops. In 2012, the first marching band youth camp was even held, thus focusing even more intensively on youth development.

Thanks to countless musicians and tireless helpers, showband.CH is still able to live and pass on its trend idea today.

The KRT consists of around 15 active musicians, plays mainly modern brass music – such as film music, pop, rock and yes, the odd traditional marching piece – and of course has a few non-musical events on its agenda. “Jazz music from its origins to the present day”
The BigBand of StadtJugendMusik Zürich celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018. The formation consists of 20 to 25 young musicians, currently including two female singers, and puts together an annual 90-minute concert program with a changing focus. The current repertoire includes big band arrangements by Duke Ellington, Bob Minzer and Don Ellis, jazz standards by Joe Zawinul and George Gershwin, funk by Tower of Power and Earth, Wind and Fire, as well as pop and film music. The SJMUZ BigBand has been able to present itself at many performances in recent years: Concerts in Zurich clubs such as Moods and the Kulturmarkt, performances at the new citizen celebrations at the Kongresshaus Zurich, at ZüriFäscht and at various private events, as well as on board the “MSC Musica” on a Mediterranean cruise in 2017.

“Symphonic wind orchestra”
In the wind orchestra of StadtJugendMusik Zürich, teenagers and young adults get to know the wide range of wind music and join in with others in the orchestra. The focus is not only on making music, but also on joint extra-musical activities that promote cohesion and strengthen the community. As a symphonic wind orchestra, it plays original wind music literature as well as transcriptions. The musicians actively get to know the multi-faceted ensemble and help to shape it. In addition to concert music, the wind orchestra also rehearses entertainment pieces, especially for the popular summer concerts or serenades. In this context, the wind orchestra also deals with traditional works. With the drumline, the marching music of the wind orchestra is a highlight of every Sechseläuten.

StadtJugendMusikZürich Percussion Ensemble

StadtJugendMusikZürich Percussion Ensemble

Main formation
Musical direction: Christoph von Bergen

“Percussion at the highest level”
The Percussion Ensemble offers Allegro and wind orchestra percussionists the opportunity to play in a percussion ensemble in addition to their formation. However, it is also open to all other interested percussionists. Depending on the project, the ensemble consists of eight to sixteen percussionists. The highlight of the year is the performance at the end-of-year concert on the first weekend in December. The ensemble also regularly takes part in competitions. At the Swiss Youth Music Festivals in 2013 and 2019, for example, it won and successfully defended the title of Swiss champion in the percussion ensemble category. In 2017, the ensemble won the world championship title in the same category at the WJMF. The musicians are also allowed to accompany the wind orchestra on its tours abroad. The percussion ensemble covers the entire spectrum of percussion literature: in addition to challenging competition pieces, it plays a lot of groovy music, but its repertoire also includes effective show pieces.

“First experiences in an ensemble”
The percussion ensemble offers young percussionists from about one year of lessons a first opportunity to play together. The group consists of six to nine children. Twice a year, the ensemble presents the pieces they have practiced at a concert. Playing in a group with children of the same age is great fun, an enormous motivating factor and an indispensable supplement to individual lessons. In the ensemble, the young musicians learn important musical basics such as playing together and making music with a conductor. In addition, many different instruments from the world of percussion are played, which offers great variety.

Worber Jugendblasorchester

Worber Jugendblasorchester

We are the Worber youth wind orchestra. We are around 35 musicians aged between 8 and 25. Our orchestra has been around since 1965, when it was still just a boys’ band. Today, under the direction of Martin Schranz, we play a colorful mixture of original wind orchestra literature, classical transcriptions, solo works and light music. Every year we play a Mother’s Day concert and our annual concerts during the Advent season. We also take part in competitions throughout Switzerland and hold a music camp where we can improve musically and grow together almost like a family.
